Automotive & Transportation

CADmech has a long standing history of supporting and leading design projects for both automotive and transportation industries, directly supporting OEM’s or Tier 1 & 2 suppliers. CADmech has been involved in various development projects of interior/exterior modules for leading North American car and bus manufacturers.

We provide support to these automotive & transportation suppliers in the form of:
     • Mechanical design & integration, vehicle packaging
     • Electrical design and electro-mechanical integration
     • Industrial automation - production assembly lines, machinery design
     Industrial design - component/vehicle UX/ergonomics, high quality
       renderings

Industrial Automation

Having worked with large OEMs and tiered suppliers, CADmech is well versed on the intricacies of designing both production machinery and layout, having specific experience with automotive and battery manufacturing.

We provide support to the industrial automation industry the form of:
     • Production line design/layout (workflow logic & optimization of machinery)
     • Setup for manufacturing & assembly line automation
     • Mechanical design (design for production line machinery and components)
Industrial design (machinery UX/ergonomic design & renderings)
As a partner with Siemens Digital Industries, CADmech supplies Siemens tools and solutions for digitization of your manufacturing process (learn more). CADmech also provides VR training solutions for new production line employees (learn more).

Aerospace & Defense

CADmech's experience in aerospace & defense dates back to its inception. The original founding members of CADmech have backgrounds as engineering team members of the Canadian Space Station project and lead CADmech's involvement with the design of the SPDM (pictured here) and ISS supporting equipment. (Read more about our SPDM project here!)

For the aerospace & defense industry, we provide support in the form of:
     • Mechanical design (new component design & integration)
     • Electrical design (harnesses and cable routing)
Industrial design (component/vehicle UX/ergonomic design and renderings)
     • Engineering analysis & prototyping (FEA/CFD studies & rapid proof of concept)

Power Generation & Sustainability

As an engineering firm, CADmech believes it has a role to play in supporting the efforts towards sustainable power generation and development of green energy sources.

Currently, we are involved in an R&D project for the development of a modular urban power generator that harnesses wind power to produce electrical energy in dense urban environments.

We are also starting our involvement with nuclear industry, especially targeting future developments of Small Nuclear Reactors while.

*CADmech is currently in the process of attaining a nuclear industry certification*

Consumer Products

From common kitchen utensils and everyday gadgets to bike frames and handlebars design, CADmech is taking pride in  development of the variety of consumer products. The design process is highly dependent on the product type in question, but CADmech always makes sure to keep the client heavily involved so that no detail goes un-noticed and not a single need is left un-integrated in the design. We always create products with usability and manufacturability in mind.

We provide support to the consumer products industry in the form of:
     • Mechanical design (new product design - along with analysis & prototyping)
Industrial design (product UX/ergonomic design, aesthetic styling, and
        renderings)
     • Manufacturing readiness (we design all products with mass manufacturing in
        mind)

Scientific & Process Instrumentation

CADmech has a rich history of being involved in the development of scientific and process instrumentation for biomedical and industrial applications. Creating instrumentation for mainly the medical and biological research fields, CADmech has contributed in numerous capacities to ensure users of the instruments can spend more time and effort on what matters: research. With this in mind, we put usability and reliability of designs as a top priority - ensuring the instruments are easy to use, and do not spoil.

We provide support to the instrumentation industry in the form of:
     • Mechanical design (instrument component design & integration)
     • Electrical design (harnesses, electrical integration, and PCB design)
Industrial design (UX/ergonomic design, aesthetic styling, and product rendering)

CADmech has considerable experience in supporting mechanical engineering aspect of development of mass spectrometers, instruments that are essential for modern drug discovery processes. Learn more about one of such projects here

Biomedical Devices

CADmech has enjoyed many incredible projects within the biomedical device sphere designing medical equipment for both specific surgical applications and more general medical processes across various fields of medicine, from neurological to dentistry. The biomedical industry presents incredible challenges - the designs must be completely novel within the smallest margin of errors and be extremely delicate and precise in performance. CADmech has consistently met this challenge with mechanically sound and attractive devices that help practitioners carry out life-saving/improving services. One example is a device that helps perform neuro surgeries, the NeuroArm (pictured)! (Learn more about it here.)

We provide support to the biomedical device industry in the form of:
     • Mechanical design (product conceptualization, product design, & integration)
     • Electrical design (harnessing, electrical routing, and controls programming)

    Project Scope & Process

From the conceptual stages to full blown product development stages, we make sure to optimize the products we work on at every step, ensuring exceptional functionality, robustness, and standard compliance. For our clients, we ensure they are tuned into our process at every stage of the development cycle. We provide (project depending) all of our clients with:

    • CAD design & drafting (models and manufacturing drawings)
    • Component and assembly design with full BOM
    • Full tolerance stack up analysis with GD&T application
    • DFMA (Design for Manufacturing & Assembly) optimization
    • FMEA (Failure Modes & Effects Analysis)

Our process for design is one that has been proven to provide excellent results since 1994. We always stress keeping our workflow consistent and keeping our clients a close part of the entire design process.

    1. Vision

We begin by meeting with you and listening to your ideas and needs. Here, a vision is born while we explore different possibilities for a design solution with you. Here we get a true understanding of our task.

    2. Brainstorming

At this stage, brainstorming and research sessions go into overdrive while we consider using ideas from previous experiences, creating new ideas based on new tech, or creating completely novel concept ideas.

    3. Development

Top ideas from the brainstorming phase move on to development and are brought to life in software. As a CAD neutral company, we accomadate our client’s software of choice.

    4. Feedback

Your involvement is important to us, so we create a process where our developed ideas are brought to you for multiple rounds of feedback and elimination until a final superior design presents itself.

    5. Prototyping

We take our final design(s) and analyze them via software, then create prototypes of them quickly in our in-house workshop, and if needed, test them in the physical world.

    6. Manufacturing

When the final iteration of the prototype is created and design perfection is achieved, the manufacturing process begins. This marks the final stage of the product development cycle.

    What You Can Expect

CADmech is a dedicated team of engineering professionals that aim to perfect their design skills and deliver properly on every project, no matter the roadblocks or deadlines. Thus, we always respect our clients’ preferences and are very flexible with working arrangements. Our designers can work from our own office through secure VPN, or temporarily re-locate to your design office if needed for workflow or security purposes. We understand the importance of constanct collaboration and aim to keep it as high as possible, acting as an integral part of and an extension of your engineering team. Keeping product design and development mindful of form, fit, & function is our ambition and our years of experience is a testament to our pursuit of this objective.
