Summary
CADmech’s extensive experience with vehicle interior component design is gleaned from our work on a wide range of projects – many of which we develop conceptual designs including styling, mechanisms and snap-fit attachment features. The focus here; Center console development for a next generation Ford vehicle.
Our Contribution
Effective communication and quick, clean turn-around of design changes and CAD models was essential for the project’s success. Always a key challenge in an automotive project of this scale is the fast and efficient incorporation of frequent studio “A” surface releases and vehicle environment changes.
Design activities included:
- Implementation of industrial design features into vehicle environment
- Fully developed B-surface feature derived from Studo A surface
- Development of structural and functional features into console design
- Console packaging into vehicle environment
- Injection molding tooling & manufacturing considerations
