Summary
CADmech was tasked to redesign front and rear roof panels of a 60’ articulated BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) vehicle to accommodate installation of natural gas tanks and a roof mounted AC unit. Structural frame adjustments were also required to support new panels and AC installations. All fiberglass and structural components had to meet the client’s strict spatial and functional requirements.
Our Contribution
Front and Rear cap surfaces needed to integrate seamlessly with the front/rear masks as well as the roof top access panels. Intensive CAD work on class “A” surfaces was required for successful integration. Other key aspects of the design included; Implementation of manufacturing and tooling principles for fiberglass, fit, form & function analysis and compliance with client’s engineering, CAD, documentation and manufacturing standards. Work was performed through VPN directly in the customer’s Team Center environment.
Services Provided
CADmech provided the following services in this project:
– Mechanical design
– Concept design/brainstorming
– Manufacturing drawings
– Mechanisms & motion studies
– Product visualization
– System integration
