Summary

Created for a tier 1 automotive supplier, this VR experience targets new employees for training on a piece of heavy equipment on a manufacturing line. Specifically, the experience aims to train new employees how to use an injection molding machine. By implementing the real machine into a virtual environment, trainees can learn on a digital twin, carrying out the exact actions they would carry out in real life. This way of learning leads to higher retention, more effective work, and an overall safer work environment.

Saving time, minimizing liability, and increasing efficiency

With this VR experience, our client was able to realize multiple benefits to their business. The most important is the training aspect. As the trainee begins the experience, they are immersed in a basic virtual workshop with a digital  twin of the exact machine they will be using. They are then brought through the process of their job, understanding each step perfectly as they carry out actions. Once finished with the process, they are quizzed on their knowledge to ensure adequate retention.

While in the experience, the trainee is unable to be distracted by outside stimuli as they are completely immersed in VR, resulting full presence in the training process. Trainees thus will become well-rounded employees right out of the training process – understanding their job and functions fully while carrying out actions in a timely and safe manner.

Ultimately this reduces costs for business, as training processes are expedited, produce better employees, and do not rely on existing machinery to be taken out of the production line to be practiced on.
