Summary

Created for the 2019 VR/AR Global Summit in Vancouver, this project shows just how simple, yet effective, VR training can be. By leveraging 360 video capture technology, the user can experience their future work environment and point out any potential hazards they see. This solution is targeted towards companies wanting to explore VR capabilities on a budget. Using this solution, employers can be sure their trainees are ready to enter the workplace with safety in mind.

A simple approach to safety training

Applicable to almost any industry, 360° Hazard and Safety Training is an excellent addition to any training process. 360 video capture allows this training experience to be created for any space that physically exists. After a consultation that includes discovering the specifics of your intended environment, our developers will film and capture the space, and begin developing an experience.

In the experience, the user must look around the space and correctly identify areas of potential hazards which are, in the experience, very present. This exercise promotes quick retention of safety protocol for users as they are able to see what a hazard looks like in their future environment, no matter how big or small.

The experience ends with analytics of their performance which includes numerous customizable metrics, most notably performance ratings. This information can be accessible by the supervisor and the experience can require the user obtain a certain score prior to continuing training.

While being budget conscious, 360 Hazard Training allows enterprise to explore the XR field and improve information retention compared to classic methods of education to their trainees. This means training can take less time while also better preparing a trainee, ultimately creating a safer environment, saving any enterprise money in the long run.

In addition to these benefits, 360 Hazard Training can also be a simple addon to a suite of more complicated VR training experience, such as machine training. View our Injection Molding Machine Training for an example.
